The nature of this review came out of necessity as my Nikon 300mm’s autofocus motor decided to crap out of me halfway through shooting the Monterey Jazz Festival weekend and the following weekend I was shooting world championship motorcycle racing at Laguna Seca raceway.
Feeling fairly lazy, I decided to try out the Nikon AF-s 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6 VR lens instead of having NPS send me some heavy, exotic telephoto piece of glass. The 80-400mm Nikon was long overdue for a replacement due to an out-of-date autofocus system and the 100-400mm has been a longtime favorite in the bag for Canon shooters, so I decided to give this new interation a shot. - See more at:
